I grew up as the only child of two public school teachers in a small farming and railroad community of 2600 people in central Illinois, not far from the Champaign-Urbana area. After graduating from high school, I completed my Bachelors degree in Music at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio and then moved to Georgia to do a Masters degree at UGA in Athens (Go Dawgs!). Once I obtained my Masters degree, I realized two things: 1) that I had completely lost my tolerance for cold Midwestern winters and 2) that I was being called to a career in the legal field. Not wanting to leave the state that had truly become my home, I enrolled in Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law in Macon where I completed my Juris Doctor degree.
Even though I'm an attorney, I still find some spare time for side pursuits. I keep up with my music by performing regularly with the Barrister Brass (a brass quintet made up of lawyers from the Macon area) and, occasionally, with the Macon Symphony Orchestra and the Orlando Philharmonic as a substitute musician.
Currently, I live in Macon with my beautiful wife Mindy who teaches at First Presbyterian Day School. We are active in our church, and in our free time enjoy traveling, hiking in Georgia's beautiful state parks, spending time with family, eating out, and watching sporting events. We love living in Middle Georgia, and look forward to spending many years here.
